WEAR: Pre-Fall 2017 and the Meta Trends to Expect

It's not too early to be thinking about what will be in stores -- and therefore, what you'll be wearing come August. From my reading and research,  the main trends I am anticipating for the upcoming pre-fall season are a return to opulent dressing with velvets, prints, and layers of luxe fabrics, tailored power dressing, a veritable explosion of khaki greens across both apparel and accessories, bold prints, and a mega-velvet moment in retail.

If you're buying anything new this year, make sure it's in a bold forest green or sophisticated khaki color. Not only are these colors completely classic and season-less, they'll be incredibly on-trend come spring and into fall. The Pantone color of the year may be Greenery, but the sophisticated apparel answer to this trend is certainly shades of rich kale for a more neutral, luxe, and fashion-forward approach to this rejuvenating color.

What's more, velvet will continue to be a major fashion statement for 2017. Expect this fabric to show up in a similar fashion to suede -- that is, everywhere. As a hefty, drapey, mid-weight fabric, this is one trend that is both comfortable for spring and fall and hits all the right fashion style points.  Below, my full list of anticipated trends.

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm already marking my calendar for the new arrival of these collections in stores, and am looking forward to updating my closet with takes on the trends below to ensure my wardrobe remains relevant and fresh.
