CRAFT: busk + bask
Adam and Danise Nance are the married makers behind Busk and Bask, a minimalistic design studio located in southern Nevada. Here, just outside of Las Vegas, the two spend their days crafting veg-tanned leather goods inspired by their love of the west and their home near the Mojave Desert. With a simple and sculptural geometry, stand-out pieces like the maar wrap clutch and the fjord tote are folded and riveted rather than the usual cut and sew job. The result then is a unisex, slick, and sophisticated style that blends eastern Noguchi-esque design principles with a rugged n' western Gram Parsons spirit.
The two officially launched their line early this month and I was immediately, viscerally attracted to their super- refined desert aesthetic. I shot them a direct message, followed it up with an email, and voila, an awesome friendship was born. I am now looking forward to paying them a visit within the next year -- along with some other folks out West -- and can't wait to see what products they release and the presence they continue to build. It is then with great pleasure that I share more of the Busk+Bask story here on the blog. The full interview with Adam is below, and it's a delightful glimpse into what got the two of them started and what keeps them both going.
